Captains Blog Stardate 05062013 Pseudocode

Ok...so my game is really complicated and has alot of levels. So...for this blog I'm gonna focus on one certain part. I'm gonna focus on the hidden object portion. Also, bear in mind, I don't full understand pseudocode, so uh...bear with me.

If the player clicks a hidden object the doc appears with the correct speech and the continue button The score will also increase by one.
If the player clicks continue, the doc, speech and continue button disappear.
If the score reaches one the player advances to the next level.

This is code, right?

So yea...that's my pseudocode. Hope you enjoyed it!

Captains Blog Stardate 05022013 Construct Code

If at first you don't succeed, try try again! This saying is so true with flash. Almost every time I try a new code it has an error. However it's usually one of three things!

1) A missing or extra curly bracket {}.
2) Something that's not Capitalized right.
3) It's missing an onEnterFrame.

Usually it's one of those three, sometimes it's not! When it's not one of those three I start going through the code with a fined tooth comb.

COMB THE DESERT!!!

Captains Blog Stardate 05022013 Update Team Development Plan

One of the most difficult concepts to teach was the complexity of the science lab. Science is a multi-sensory experience. To accomplish this experience I found the "Add Sound to Demo" tutorial helpful. I wish I could add scents, but alas, smell-o-vision has not been invented yet. If it had I could have a "waft don't whiff" demonstration. Ohh well, I guess my mind is too advanced for this age of technology, who knows, maybe I'll invent smell o' vision some day!

I CALL IT! SMELL-O-VISION!!!

Captains Blog Stardate 04202013 10 Years From Now

Shoot, I have no idea what I'll be like in ten years. I was a totally different person ten years ago and I'll probably be totally different ten years from now. I mean sure, I'll still like Les Mis and making films, but I'll probably have a new obsession that outranks those two. Who knows, maybe I'll be into slasher films or historical novels...only time will tell. I wonder how different I'll look. I'll probably stop this whole "long hair thing". Honestly, if family history is any indicator, I'll probably be bald. Hopefully I'll have a decent job.

The clock is ticking!

Captains Blog Stardate 04182013 Guns In School

Normally when you hear about guns in schools it's in a bad way. It's in a "some lunatic brought his gun to a school and now he's shooting people" way. We wouldn't have those stories if the teachers had guns. If teachers had guns it would be "Some lunatic brought his gun to school and when he tried to shoot people he got shot".
Armed teachers are the only way to truly guarantee our kids safety. It sounds crazy but it's the world we live in. Stuff like shootings and bombings happen. If we act like practicing "lockdowns" are going to save us we're just fooling ourselves. No, there needs to be someone in that school (preferably in every class room) who can defend our children if that madman with a gun came in. We had problems with terrorists on flights, so we started putting armed Air Marshalls on flights. Why is it so hard to comprehend that we need someone with a gun to protect us in school. Bravo to the Fairview school for seeing this!

If a teacher had been armed this would have never happened...

Captains Blog Stardate 04122013 Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Thatcher was the first female British Prime Minister. Her nickname was the Iron Lady. This was because of her hard approach to the cold war. She was a strong ally to president Ronald Reagan. She was portrayed by Meryl Streep in the film "The Iron Lady". Streep won an Oscar for that performance.
